Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club Golf Packages
Pine Needles Golf Club
Pine Needles Golf Course is the crown jewel of the resort. Opened in 1928, this par-71 course stretches across 7,015 yards from the tips and has earned a reputation as one of the top courses in the country. It has played host to multiple U.S. Women’s Open Championships, which speaks to its pedigree and challenge.
The course features classic Ross design elements—elevated greens, sweeping fairways, and well-placed bunkers—that reward both strategic thinking and precise shot-making. The 4th hole, a par-4 with a tricky, well-bunkered green, is one of the most talked-about on the course. The 18th hole, a challenging par-4, offers a thrilling finish to your round as you approach the beautiful clubhouse.
The course’s immaculate conditioning and stunning scenery make it a favorite for both professional and amateur golfers alike.
Mid Pines Golf Club
Located just across the street from Pine Needles, Mid Pines Golf Club offers a charming, intimate golf experience. This par-72 course opened in 1921, making it one of the oldest in the area, and like Pine Needles, it too was designed by Donald Ross. Measuring 6,732 yards, Mid Pines is slightly shorter than Pine Needles but offers plenty of challenges with its rolling terrain and strategic bunkering.
Mid Pines is often described as a throwback to the golden age of golf design, with its minimal earth-moving and natural layout that blends seamlessly into the landscape. The 3rd hole, a par-5, presents golfers with a challenging dogleg and requires a well-placed tee shot to avoid trouble. The 16th hole, a long par-3, is one of the most beautiful on the course, framed by towering pines and a challenging green complex.
With its old-school feel and walkable layout, Mid Pines is a course that any purist will appreciate.
Southern Pines Golf Club
Recently restored to its original Donald Ross design, Southern Pines Golf Club is quickly becoming a favorite among golfers who appreciate classic architecture. This par-71 course measures 6,654 yards, and while it’s not as long as Pine Needles, it packs plenty of challenges thanks to its tight fairways, subtle elevation changes, and small, well-contoured greens.
The restoration project, completed in 2021, returned many of the original features that had been lost over time, including Ross’s signature bunkering and green complexes. The 10th hole, a short par-4 with a tricky uphill approach, is a great example of Ross’s ability to challenge golfers with creative design, rather than just length. The 5th hole, a long par-5, offers panoramic views of the surrounding area and is a true test of your strategic thinking.
Southern Pines Golf Club is known for its peaceful setting, with fewer crowds than some of the more famous courses in the area, allowing for a more relaxed and personal golf experience.
Tobacco Road Golf Club
Stretching over 6,554 yards from the tips, Tobacco Road is a course that defies convention and rewards creative shot-making. Built on an abandoned sand quarry, the course takes full advantage of the rugged terrain, featuring towering dunes, blind shots, deep bunkers, and dramatic elevation changes. Every hole offers a new and exciting challenge, making it a course that’s as much about strategy as it is about skill.
Tobacco Road is characterized by its wide fairways, elevated tees, and heavily contoured greens. The course offers multiple teeing options, making it accessible for golfers of all skill levels, but from the back tees, it’s a true test of your game. The challenge comes from its unique bunkering, severe slopes, and the necessity to trust your instincts on blind shots.
